Golbarg Jokar is a visual artist whose practice is deeply rooted in personal emotion, cultural memory, and the layered experiences of Iranian womanhood. Growing up with a strong instinct to create, she has long used her hands — and her art — as a means of expression when words fell short. Her work is, above all, a form of storytelling: intimate, symbolic, and visually rich.

Drawing inspiration from the art history of Iran, Golbarg merges traditional motifs with contemporary concerns, often using bold colors, stylized forms, and emotionally charged compositions. Her visual language speaks to identity, vulnerability, and the psychological landscapes of women — particularly in the context of displacement, resilience, and cultural heritage.

Now based in New York City, her work also explores the tension between nostalgia and reinvention — what it means to live as an immigrant, to carry one’s homeland in imagery and memory, while engaging with new environments and dialogues. Whether through digital art, painting, or pattern design, Golbarg’s pieces invite viewers into layered worlds: part dreamscape, part social commentary.

At once playful and poignant, her work honors the complexities of being — of feeling deeply, navigating dualities, and creating space for emotion where words may not suffice.

Save The Amazon

In Everyday Life, the artist turns their attention to the quiet, often unnoticed corners of daily existence. Through soft chalk pastels and muted tones, this collection captures spaces touched by time — spaces that feel worn, weathered, and familiar, yet somehow distant. These are not grand narratives or dramatic moments, but traces of lived experience, steeped in silence.

The works evoke a delicate atmosphere where memory clings to surfaces — walls, floors, furniture — like a faint echo. There is a presence in absence, a weight in the stillness. Each piece reflects a search for belonging, a sense of home or rootedness, even when its meaning remains undefined or just out of reach.

What emerges is a visual language of quietude and reflection. The faded textures, the subdued palette, and the gentle layering of color all suggest a world suspended — a contemplative space where time slows and the ordinary becomes poetic.

Everyday Life invites viewers to look again at what surrounds them. In doing so, it transforms the mundane into something quietly sacred — a place where nostalgia, decay, and beauty coexist in fragile harmony.

The Blue Frame

The Blue Frame is a narrative of coexistence with an inner shadow—a shadow that first appears as a stranger but gradually takes on a familiar face. The Blue Div has breathed beside the girl for years, present in every moment, in every place. Its presence has been both heavy and gentle, both desirable and terrifying. Every time the Div has drawn near, distance has grown between them, as if its presence were more of a threat than a source of comfort.

But darkness changes the meaning of many things. In the girl’s endless nights, the only light flickering in her void has been from the candle the Blue Div has lit for her. The only warmth she has felt is the touch of the Div’s lips on her cheek. This inevitable closeness has transformed the Div from a stranger into a mirror—a truth she had long avoided. Now, she understands that the Div is not something external; it is herself, embodied in another form.

This collection is an inner journey—an exploration of the relationship between fear and acceptance, estrangement and unity. The Blue Frame is a confrontation, a dialogue between what we flee from and what we ultimately embrace.
